We maximised the value of a retiring GP’s practice building by converting it into two homes sold on the open market.

Losing a GP practice can be devastating for the local community. Still, thankfully plans were already advanced to merge this existing small practice with others in a more modern, larger and local building. In planning terms, this meant no loss of ‘amenity’, and our application for Change of Use was granted without issue.
Our next challenge was converting a non-residential, somewhat dated property into modern homes. Fortunately, before being used for GP surgery, the building was originally residential, and it had been two homes, making it relatively straightforward for us to convert it back.
The final barrier to overcome was how to bring the performance of the building up to modern standards. This meant upgrading fire resistance and a lot of changes to insulation – a rather messy job but relatively straightforward for us to do.
